Ceremony of Gratitude: Sunday, Nov. 23
Each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. we hold this special morning program. We begin as usual at 9:30with zazen, followed by a talk on gratitude, then chanting, a circumambulation with incense offerings, and a sangha circle. During this circle, people will have a chance, if they wish, to express thanks for whatever they feel especially grateful for this year. The ceremony ends with a reading of the 'Gatha of Gratitude' and the Four Bodhisattvic Vows.

Immediately afterward we'll prepare tea and gather for a potluck brunch. Please bring a dish to share, to add to this festive gathering.

If you have children and would like to bring them to this event, please get in touch with Susan or Sunya (828-645-8001). Children are welcome to join us in the zendo after the sitting, but we’ll need some options for them if they decide to ‘bow out’ at any point.

Thanksgiving at Windhorse: Thursday, November 27, Annual Vegetarian Potluck Feast and Party
Let us know if you’d like to join us for this festive event, and also what special dish you'll bring to share. New Building Update
Joanna and Charles Vander Kolk have been actively engaged in helping us move forward with the interior of the building, scouring various salvage places for supplies. Last week they found and procured a double sink for one of the bathrooms, along with a large number of tiles for the building’s three shower areas. What a help in keeping the momentum strong!

And speaking of momentum:
Next Monday, workers will finish the insulation and soundproofing, and the following week, on Nov. 17, they’ll begin hanging the drywall – which will completely transform this space! Our goal, of course, is to get a Certificate of Occupancy as quickly as possible, so that we can actually begin to use this beautiful building for sesshin and various sorts of workshops.
In the past, many people have offered their help – skilled and unskilled; if you’d like to be involved in these final stages, we’d love to hear from you!

Teacher Travels
Next week, on Wednesday, Nov. 12, Lawson will travel to Clearwater, FL. to spend time with the sangha there. He’ll return the following Monday.

Rohatsu sesshin: Dec. 6-13
The Buddha’s Enlightenment Sesshin is coming right up.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Feel free to call the center a couple of days later, to verify you’ve been accepted. Naturally, full-time participants will be given first priority.
